MGTO attends China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Expo 2016

The MGTO booth was themed ‘Experience Macao Your Own Style’.

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) promoted Macao at the China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Expo (CITIE) in Guangzhou, organized by the Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province, from 9th to 11th September. MGTO Deputy Director Cecilia Tse led a delegation of MGTO officials and representatives from local tourism businesses to the event.

Running a 72 sq. m. booth themed 'Experience Macao Your Own Style' at the Expo, MGTO showcased Macao's latest tourism attractions to the public and industry professionals, furthering the territory's goal to become a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure. MGTO, the Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province, and Hong Kong Tourism Board ran a joint booth at the Expo to showcase the fruitful achievements of tourism co-operation between the three destinations. The booth also served to reinforce the promotion of multi-destination tour routes and facilitated tourism developments in the three destinations.

This edition of CITIE boasted an exhibition floor of 100,000 sq. m. occupied by 5,000 standard booths. Themed under the development concept of 'Tourism +', this edition of CITIE comprised nine theme halls and five special areas showcasing various products and brands of tourism plus other related industries fostering the integrated development of tourism, industry, culture, sports, the Internet, and other related industries.

This year, CITIE included a series of activities themed 'Host Countries Tourism Day' for the first time with the objective of promoting regional co-operation in tourism between Guangdong and countries along the 'Belt and Road' route. In addition, CITIE hosted the second edition of the China (Guangdong) MICE Exchange Conference, offering more than ten special events such as the 'Tourism + Internet' Seminar, Seminar on Development of Region-based Tourism, among others, the objective was to enhance the professionalism of the Expo.

CITIE is one of the largest international exhibitions with the highest number of participating exhibitors and professional buyers in Mainland China, and serves as a key platform for overseas and local industry partners to showcase and sell their tourism products. It hosted professional buyers from more than 50 countries and regions around the world, with the number of visitors topping half a million.
