Low-cost carriers Air Seoul (owned by Asiana Airlines) and Jeju Air launched their inaugural flights to Macao on 22^nd and 30^th October 2016, respectively. Both airlines offer seven flights per week from Seoul to Macao, increasing the number of daily flights serving the two cities. Air Seoul announced that South Korea is currently the largest international tourism market for Macao and that the city has good prospects for further development with the country.

Air Seoul started operating international routes from October this year, and will gradually increase the carrier's Asian destinations. Jeju Air expects the new route to carry more visitors from Korea and from Jeju itself. The airport operator CAM added that passengers to the Korean market from Macau International Airport posted a growth of 85 per cent from January to September this year.

On 23^rd September 2016, Air Macau held an inaugural ceremony for the Macao to Guiyang route. Flights are initially scheduled for three a week, departing every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. Total flight time is estimated to be one hour and 50 minutes. Air Macau said that the new route will generate new economic opportunities for Macao and Guiyang, building a solid foundation for the promotion of the economy, trade co-operation, cultural exchanges and tourism resource sharing.
