In order to promote the public's appreciation of and participation in artistic and cultural activities whilst revitalising the community and creating a cultural atmosphere, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) plans to launch a 'Busking Programme', providing local arts and cultural workers with a performing platform and introducing domestic and overseas quality street performances. The programme is specifically designed to attract buskers by street art and provide a platform for them to perform. The three types of busking activities identified are performing arts, visual arts and creative crafts.

In the first phase, IC plans to offer a performance platform for buskers at Anim'Arte NAM VAN, the Taipa Houses and Mount Fortress Garden at particular times. Since 7th November, interested individuals have been able to apply for the Busker Card online via the IC webpage or in person at the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building. The Busker Card is valid until 31st January 2017. The first three months serve as the pilot stage of the plan, with content to be revised according to the actual operational situation.
