63rd Macau Grand Prix A Roaring Success

The four-day event attracted more than 80,000 spectators

The Suncity Group 63rd Macau Grand Prix was successfully held from 17th to 20th November, attended by over 80,000 spectators throughout the four-day event.

This year, the event facilitated seven spectacular races: Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix, Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix, Macau Guia Race 2.0T, FIA GT World Cup and three support Races including the Touring Car Cup, Road Sport Challenge and Chinese Racing Cup.

The prestigious Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix has been elevated to the FIA F3 World Cup and was staged on the 20th November finale. Portuguese driver António Félix da Costa produced a brilliant performance to take his victory, while Swedish driver Felix Rosenqvist and Brazilian driver Sérgio Sette Câmara finished second and third, respectively.

The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, Alexis Tam, said in a concluding statement that the success of the Grand Prix had also attracted a large number of visitors to Macao. According to statistics, arrivals on 19th November reached 120,000 whilst around 100,000 departed, meaning more than 20,000 visitors remained in Macao overnight.

The Sports Bureau assumed the organization of the Grand Prix this year. The Director of the Sport Bureau and the co-ordinator of the Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee, Pun Weng Kun, observed that this event invites world-class drivers to compete in Macao, and that his department hopes to introduce different types of competitions in the future to attract even more spectators.
