Macao’s first ‘WiFi Street’ activated in Northern District

WiFi Street in Northern district covered from the Barrier Gate Plaza to the Lin Zexu Memorial Museum

Macau International Industrial Technology Development Association has launched Macao's first 'WiFi Street', covering Istmo F. Amaral to the Lin Zexu Memorial Museum next to Amigos do Jardim Triângulo, spanning one km in total. The service will be on trial for one year from 25th October, while a number of access points (AP) will be set up in the street to provide WiFi signal; visitors, residents and merchants may use 30 minutes free WiFi for every login.

The Director of Macao Economic Services, Tai Kin Ip, remarked that the rise of Internet trading is becoming the main driver of today's business world. He also hopes the WiFi Street can help consolidate the foundation of Macao's e-commercial culture, improving the business environment and promoting e-payment.
