The first e-commerce payment district - 1212 Blue Street - organized by The Industry and Commerce Federation of Macau Central and Southern District, will launch on 1^st December. The service will cover different districts inluding Rua dos Ervanários, Rua de Nossa Senhora do Amparo, Rua de Santo António, Rua de S. Paulo, Rua da Palha, Senado Square, Rua da Felicidade, Rua S. Domingos, Rua de Pedro Nolasco da Silva, Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida, Rua de Abreu Nunes, Bairro de São Lázaro and so forth.

The e-payment district integrates big data technology from the Alibaba Group to provide shopping suggestions and travel guidance to visitors, providing special merchant offers as well as activities information at 1212 Blue Street to Mainland China visitors while they are preparing their trip. The system also utilizes the location positioning system and electronic coupons to channel visitors to 1212 Blue Street. The system can also direct visitors from the prosperous area to surrounding areas.

The Deputy Director of Macao Economic Services, Lau Wai Meng, said that the MSAR Government valued local e-commerce business development, and that he was glad to see Macao's first electronic payment business, constructed by both the Chamber of Commerce and the government. The government will continue to support the construction of electronic payment systems in Macao and help SMEs harness Internet innovations.

Xu Lingjie of Alipay Macao branch said that Macao's 1212 Blue Street is one of the main elements of Alipay's 12.12 'Shopping Holiday'. Alipay will fully co-operate with and utilize Internet technology to help merchants develop or improve their own businesses, thus building up this mega event in Macao. Moreover, according to William Mio, the Deputy Marketing Director of Macau Pass, said that Macau Pass will install electronic payment machines for free to traders who participle in the district and will provide discount for every transaction to promote electronic payment.
