Spain

On 18th January, Macao Tourism Promotion & Information Centre in Portugal is participating in the 13th UNWTO Awards ceremony, which recognizes excellence and innovation in tourism in Public Policy and Governance, Enterprise, Non-Governmental Organizations and Research and Technology. Some 12 finalists have been selected from 139 applicants from 55 countries, with the winners to be announced during the ceremony and gala dinner to be held in Madrid, during FITUR 2017.

The Macao Tourism Promotion & Information Centre in Portugal will also participate in FITUR 2017 from 18th to 22nd January, with the annual national tourism fair of Spain held in the capital of Madrid. One of the biggest of its kind in Europe, the fair will serve as an ideal showcase for Macao, which will be represented by a booth highlighting its characteristic East-West elements with interactive media features to attract visitors. The current promotional video titled 'Experience Macao Your Own Style' will also serve to inform and educate.

Portugal

In addition, the Macao Tourism Promotion & Information Centre in Portugal will participate in the Chinese New Year Spring Festival to be held in Martim Moniz Square in the centre of Lisbon on 28th January, organized by local Chinese associations and supported by the Chinese Embassy in Portugal and by the Municipal Council. The event will be a colourful display celebrating Chinese culture where people can get information about Macao from the MGTO booth.

USA

On 26th January, the MGTO USA representative will attend the 2017 TravMedia International Media Marketplace (IMM) in New York City as an exhibitor in order to establish continued visibility of MGTO and Macao products to catch the attention of a large number of American journalists. Since 2013, TravMedia IMM has hosted over 1,600 international media and 890 exhibiting companies, facilitating over 26,000 one-on-one appointments between international media and travel and tourism brands.

In addition, the MGTO USA representative will attend and speak on the New York Times Travel Show – PATA's panel “Focus on Asia" about travel trends and new tourism products and ongoing developments in Macao on 27th January. This panel takes an in-depth look at up-and-coming destinations within the Asia-Pacific region that might not be on most clients' radar. Travel agents, tour operators and other industry professionals can go beyond common “bucket list" destinations to learn about some truly hidden gems that remain undisturbed by mass-market tourism or over-development. These are places where leisure travelers can achieve full cultural immersion and experience first-hand some of the most unique arts, traditions, architecture and culinary offerings they're likely to encounter in their lifetimes.
