Macao Museum of Art, Museum of Taipa and Coloane Free to Public

The Macao Museum of Art opened to the public with free admission from 1st January, 2017

In order to promote Macao's history and arts, and encourage more residents and tourists to visit museums in Macao, the Macao SAR Cultural Affairs Bureau is offering free admission to the Macao Museum for Macao ID holders, while the Macao Museum of Art and the Museum of Taipa and Coloane History has been open to the public with free admission effective 1st January, 2017.

The Macao Museum exhibits various aspects of Macao, including its early history, economy and trade, traditional cultures, religious ceremonies, and folk festivals. The Macao Museum of Art (MAM) is currently the biggest exhibition space for the arts in Macao. MAM puts on a variety of exhibitions. Apart from offering permanent exhibitions to display its long-term collections it holds different types of exchange exhibition with museums and cultural organisations from Mainland China as well as other countries and regions on a regular basis. The Museum of Taipa and Coloane History primarily presents archaeological artefacts and relics excavated in Coloane, the history of the Municipal Council of the Islands and details about its architectural features in addition to an overview of the agricultural and handicraft sectors of Coloane and Taipa in the past.

The Macao Museum and Museum of Taipa and Coloane History open from 10:00am to 6:00pm (no admission after 5:30pm; closed on Mondays). The Macao Museum of Art opens from 10am to 7:00pm (no admission after 6:30pm; closed on Mondays).
