Macao Ranked 6th Most Visited Tourist City

Macao continues to figure in the world’s top ten cities for tourism

Euromonitor International, the world's leading independent provider of strategic market research, recently released its annual Top City Destinations Ranking in 2015, with Hong Kong ranking first for the seventh consecutive year. Bangkok rose to second place followed by London, Singapore and Paris, while Macao continues to rank sixth.

To calculate the respective rankings, Euromonitor International evaluated the inbound overnight visitor data of 100 of the world's leading cities in terms of international visitor arrivals. The report reveals that after several years of continued growth in the number of overnight visitor arrivals, Macao posted a 1.8 per cent decrease on a year-on-year comparison. Neighbouring tourism hotspots Hong Kong and Shenzhen posted a 3.9 per cent and 3.4 per cent decrease, respectively.

Seventh to tenth positions were occupied by Dubai, Istanbul, New York City and Kuala Lumpur. Compared with 2014, Shenzhen fell from seventh to eleventh, while Dubai rose to tenth.
