‘Cultural Guildhall’ on Beco da Felicidade Now Open to Public

The ‘Cultural Guildhall’ on Beco da Felicidade is a Historic Protection Building

The 'Cultural Guildhall' - located at No.9, Beco da Felicidade - is a Historic Protection Building which opened to the public from 21st January, 2017. Occupying more than 3,000 square feet, the two-storey building was erected in the 19th Century, and was engaged in the publication and sale of books, provided a leisure reading area, cultural touring, and so forth. The objective of the Guildhall is to provide an integrated cultural hub infused with a sense of humanity, facilitating cultural exhibitions, art performances, and reading café.

The Guildhall specifically focused on the former background of Rua da Felicidade and Beco da Felicidade as Macao's red light district and, combined with its special architectural and historical features, the design of the building featured the historic changes of Rua da Felicidade and its colourful history. The first floor of the Guildhall serves as a bookstore showcasing and selling Macao books, and a large reading area. The ground floor of the building now has flexible uses to meet the various requirements of different cultural activities. The Guildhall will expand the functional area in stages.

The 'Cultural Guildhall' on Beco da Felicidade opens from 11:00am to 6:00pm and is closed on public holidays.
