MGTO Hosts Spring Luncheon in Appreciation of HK Tourism Industry Support

Cecilia Tse expressed her warm appreciation to the tourism industry of Hong Kong for their support of Macao’s tourism industry

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) hosted a Spring luncheon in Hong Kong on 10th February in order to express appreciation to its tourism industry partners in Hong Kong for their contributions to Macao's tourism. MGTO Deputy Director Cecilia Tse led a delegation to greet more than hundred travel trade executives to the luncheon.

During the occasion the Deputy Director remarked that in 2016 Macao had welcomed over 30 million visitors. As the second largest source market, Hong Kong contributed over 6.4 million visitors to Macao last year, slightly down by 1.8 per cent compared to 2015, while the sum of overnight guests of local hotels and guesthouses from Hong Kong registered an increase of 17.8 per cent.

Entering the Year of the Rooster, MGTO will dedicate continuous and vigorous efforts to promoting the diversity of local tourism products and international mega events, supporting the Macao SAR Government's work to speed up the city's development into a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure. Moreover, the Office will continue to promote Macao under the theme 'Experience Macao Your Own Style' in the hope that visitors can experience the charm of Macao in their own way and bring home a myriad of wonderful travel experiences.

In tandem with MGTO's promotional strategy, MGTO's representative in Hong Kong will strengthen communication and co-operation with members of the tourism industry via various avenues including regular product presentations, thematic familiarization trips, joint promotions, Macao on Sale promotions, and so forth. In addition, the representative will tailor brand-new promotional campaigns to different market segments, maximising the use of Internet tools and social platforms to showcase Macao as a destination that offers a diversity of travel experiences.

MGTO also hosted similar functions to welcome in the Year of the Rooster, taking the opportunity to express its appreciation to the media, travel agencies, airlines and other trade partners in markets such as the Taiwan region, Korea and Portugal.
