Macau International Airport to Increase Number of Routes

Macau International Airport will increase flights and optimise infrastructure

Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) introduced the development of the markets and infrastructure of the Airport on 18th January, announcing plans to launch routes between Siem Reap to Macao, Macao to Harbin, Macao to Taichung, Macao to Da Nang, and Macao to Hanoi. A service to Moscow will be re-launched in May.

In the future, CAM will fully develop long-haul routes, with the objective of increasing and changing the current passenger market structure.

Airport infrastructure projects slated for this year

In 2017, the anticipated completion of several large-scale Airport infrastructure projects such as the business jet hangar will be evident, with a fixed-base operator providing service and the terminal building accommodating 7.5 million passengers as a whole after the north extension project - all projects promoting the development of Macao aviation. Meanwhile, CAM will optimise the east parking apron from this year.

The original 24 parking slots will be optimised to accommodate 25 passenger aircraft and 15 business aircraft to meet the needs of the local aviation market and provide more space for airlines. The runway overlay project is expected to be launched this year to enhance the load-bearing capacity and safety performance of the runway, by changing the paving of the runway from rigid pavement to flexible paving. CAM has also scheduled to have four more remote boarding gates this year to help ease passenger flow.

Flight schedule to Fukuoka updated

For commercial reasons, Air Macau is cancelling 24 flights between Macao and Fukuoka in the period spanning 17th February to 15th March, 2017. In addition, in cancelling flights between Macao and Fukuoka from February to March, 2017 Air Macau will give affected passengers a full refund or, subject to seat availability, change the travel period and destination to other destinations served by Air Macau, in the same service cabin, three months before or after the original travel dates with administration fee and fare difference waived. Alternatively, subject to seat availability, affected passengers can take advantage of a free endorsement by Air Macau for other airline's flights to or from Fukuoka, in the same service cabin, three months before or after the original travel dates.

In addition, Macao-Fukuoka flights will be operated normally during 17th to 25th March, while a summer flight schedule will be effective 26th March onward, with Macao-Fukuoka flights operated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
