Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) unveiled a mega tourism promotional event, 'Experience Macao - Malaysia' in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 12th to 16th of April. The promotion adopted different technologies to showcase Macao's fascinating diversities in tourism, culture, sports and gastronomy by bringing together all these elements at the heart of the city for Malaysian citizens, travel trade and media to experience. MGTO also rides on the mission to organize a 'multi-destination' tourism promotion in partnership with the tourism authorities of Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian.

The mega tourism promotion 'Experience Macao - Malaysia' kicked off with an opening ceremony in the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur located in Bukit Bintang, the central district of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 12th April which mainly targeted middle-class and high-end customers. Fueled with technologies, the mega promotion was divided into different themed areas where visitors can virtually experience Macao's events, prepare delicacies and enjoy a stroll in the Historic Centre of Macao. Furthermore, numerous travel agencies were stationed in the promotion to offer special travel packages to Macao as well as other multi-destination tourism products in different combinations such as Guangdong-Macao, Guangxi-Macao, Fujian-Macao, Hong Kong-Macao and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao, a special sale convenient for holidaymakers.

The ceremony was officiated by MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Deputy Secretary General (Tourism) of Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, Nor Yahati Awang, President of Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents, Datuk Haji Hamzah Rahmat, National President of Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association, Dato Albert Tan, as well as MGTO's Representative in Malaysia, Tunku Dato Seri Iskandar Tunku Abdullah.

As Director Senna Fernandes expressed, Malaysia has been one of Macao's major middle-haul markets. Tailored for Malaysian citizens, this promotion let visitors experience Macao in a variety of fun-filled ways and step into a splendid world of highlights Macao has to offer. Being a unique travel destination beaming with blended cultural gems from the East and West, Macao is also a stop along various itineraries which encompass other destinations on the map. In addition, MGTO rolled out 'multi-destination' tourism promotion together with the tourism authorities of Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian, with the aim to strengthen cooperation and advance tourism development in Macao and the region at large.

MGTO hosted an 'Experience Macao' Welcome Dinner on 12th April and invited around 50 guests including Malaysian tourism officials, leaders of trade associations and key players in the industry. Tourism officials from Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian, as well as delegates of the Macao travel trade were also invited to the dinner.

As part of MGTO's endeavors to promote Macao's unique offers as a 'World Centre of Tourism and Leisure', the mission aims to tap into a variety of visitor markets and attract high-value visitations from middle-haul markets to Macao or other destinations as well in one trip, by highlighting the destination's strengths and geographic advantages in the region. Dedicated to widening the diversity of visitor markets to Macao, MGTO once again adopted the theme of 'Experience Macao Your Own Style' in its worldwide destination promotions this year. To go in parallel with the national 'Belt and Road' Initiative, MGTO continues to develop a variety of travel itineraries and organize multi-destination promotions together with partner tourism entities in the region. Furthermore, MGTO will extend the geographic scope of partnerships for multi-destination travel and actively develop new tourism products together with members of the 'China Maritime Silk Road Tourism Promotion Alliance', while leveraging the Alliance as a platform to further promote multi-destination travel along the Maritime Silk Road.
