MGTO Promotional Activities in June

MGTO will continue to organize industry partners to participate at ITEHK this year
Macao-published books will be sold, with autograph sessions with Macao authors organized during the Lisbon Book Fair

Summer holidays are around the corner! A favourite tourist destination for families, this June Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will organize and participate in multiple activities (in chronological order) in Portugal, Hong Kong, Japan, the Taiwan region and Malaysia to promote the many facets of the city.

Portugal

Macau Tourism Promotion & Information Centre in Portugal (CPITMP) will participate in the Lisbon Book Fair from 1st to 18th June, with the sale of titles from Macao, and numerous autograph sessions with Macao authors. On 3rd June, to highlight Macao´s promotion at the Fair, there will be a direct radio broadcast of a special programme on TSF radio station, one of the three major radio stations in Portugal.

Mapping – Macao Photographers Group Exhibition is currently showing in Braga's old train station from 20th May to 28th June, with eight Macao photographers introducing the Macao cityscape and architecture through their works.

Hong Kong

On 3th June, MGTO will host the 'Experience Macao Your Own Style' Hong Kong Teacher Seminar and Luncheon. Over 160 primary and secondary teachers and principals plus study tour organizations will join the event to learn about the rich resources available in Macao for study tours and MGTO's Travel Stimulation Programme.

Meanwhile, from 15th to 18th June, MGTO Hong Kong representative together with 32 representatives from different travel industries including hotels, travel agents, ferry companies and event organizers, will participate in the 31st Hong Kong International Travel Expo (ITE). MGTO's Hong Kong representative will be promoting Macao under the theme 'Experience Macao Your Own Style' and will organize two seminars on the consumer days (17th and 18th June), introducing Macao's gastronomy, summer events and upcoming festivals such as The 5th Macau International Travel (Industry) Expo, Wushu Masters Challenge, and International Film Festival & Awards - Macao to ITE visitors. During the exhibition period of ITE, a limited number of travel packages will be on sale to customers.

Japan

MGTO-Japan plans to conduct a Travel Marketing Seminar in Oita, Kagoshima, and Sapporo on 7th, 8th and 13th June, respectively. On 14th June, MGTO-Japan, together with the Hong Kong Tourism Board, will conduct travel marketing seminars in each of the three cities of Hiroshima, Okayama and Takamatsu. Besides the seminars themselves, the events will include a travel professional lunch for networking purposes.

MGTO-Japan regularly organizes professional business meetings with key female agents aged 30 to 45 in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Sapporo and Fukuoka to create a Macao trade supporter team. This month, the tourist promotion activities for women include a Women's Club Meeting in Sapporo on 12th June plus familiarization tour for Women's Club members from 22nd to 25th June in order to help them better gain a true firsthand experience of the destination.

Taiwan region

The MGTO Taiwan representative will be participating in the Taichung International Travel Fair from 9th to 12th June, collaborating with four Taichung travel agencies to offer Macao travel packages. In order to showcase the characteristics of Macao, the MGTO booth design will be based upon the lotus, the floral emblem of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and modernist design, with walls decorated with Portuguese tiles and Chinese traditional windows, perfectly demonstrating the harmonious mix of Eastern and Western cultures in Macao.

Malaysia

MGTO Malaysia will conduct a media campaign with The Sun Daily, the highest circulation English Daily in Malaysia. The campaign will leverage print and online platforms with The Sun Daily content provider travelling to Macao in June to cover Macao's new attractions, gastronomy, art, culture, shows and entertainment.

From June to September, MGTO Malaysia will also take up advertising space in Suara Matta NewsLetter - a quarterly newsletter of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) - promoting Macao's upcoming major events and festivals, including the 5th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo & PATA Travel Mart 2017.

MGTO Malaysia will also organize a series of online promotional activities employing mobile and website ads, news website, movie, and online discussion forum to promote travel to Macao. MGTO will also join a number of websites, opinion leaders, Internet celebrities, stars and celebrities in interacting with the Malaysian public and promoting Macao's mega events and festivals plus related activities' information.
