MGTO Deputy Director Cheng Wai Tong attended the APEC High Level Policy Dialogue

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Deputy Director Cheng Wai Tong attended the 'Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) High Level Policy Dialogue on Sustainable Tourism' in Vietnam on 19th June. The Office exchanged information about the diversification and sustainable development of the tourism industry, as well as raising Macao's visibility and participation in international tourism associations through this attendance.

During the meeting, representatives from various member economies and international tourism organizations exchanged views and held in-depth discussions on a series of topics. A Statement of the APEC High Level Policy Dialogue on Sustainable Tourism Development has been adopted, with consensus on a number of issues reached throughout the meeting.

Representatives from 18 APEC member economies attended the meeting, in addition to representatives from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), International Air Transport Association (IATA) and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

MGTO has been actively participating in different meetings and events hosted by international tourism organizations, while attracting organizers to choose Macao as the destination for large-scale international tourism conventions and exhibitions. This year, PATA Travel Mart 2017 and the 43rd National Congress of the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT) will be held in Macao in September and November, respectively.
