International Fireworks Display Contest Promises Cascade of Magical Illuminations

First-prize-winning works in Group 2 of the Photo Contest: Fireworks night

Organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the 29th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest will be staged above the sea area in front of the Macau Tower on 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd September and 1st October. The Contest - featuring the first fireworks display at 9:00pm each night, followed by the second display at 9:40pm - pits ten teams from Australia, Austria, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, the Philippines, Germany, Italy, Portugal and China against each other. Each of the companies boasts rich experience in creating mega multimedia fireworks shows, with several portfolios including fireworks displays presented in famous theme parks and major national celebrations.

MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes observed that the Contest has become a major event and a highlight of the many travel experiences offered by the destination. Thanks to collaborative efforts by different circles and supporters from home and abroad, the Fireworks Contest has pursued an upwards trajectory for almost three decades to become an established stage for prominent global fireworks companies wishing to demonstrate their pyrotechnic expertise and artistry. Today, the Contest has become not only a wonderful reason for local residents to celebrate the festive joy of the fireworks with their family and friends, but also serves as a magnet for visitors from around the world.

Of this year's teams, Cardile International Fireworks Pty Ltd. of Australia, Alpha Pyrotechnie from France, Dragon Fireworks Inc. from the Philippines and Liuyang New Year Fireworks Trading Co., Ltd. from China make their grand debut in Macao. All of them have won first place and other honours in mega fireworks contests around the world, with their exquisite productions deservedly acclaimed.

The other six teams include FIREevent - Die Feuerwerker from Austria, MLE Pyrotechnics Ltd. from the United Kingdom, Marutamaya Ogatsu Fireworks Co., Ltd. from Japan, Potsdamer Feuerwerk GmbH from Germany, Panzera S.A.S. from Italy and Grupo Luso Pirotecnia from Portugal. With industry-wide recognition and accomplishments, these companies have dazzled in various competitions as award winners.

The ten teams will illuminate the skyline with breathtaking fireworks in harmony with music and laser effects, presenting five amazing and extraordinary fireworks evenings designed to transport spectators to another world.

In addition, MGTO will join hands with the General Union of Neighbours Association of Macau once more to present the Fireworks Carnival every fireworks evening from 5:00pm to 11:00pm by Macau Tower with delicacies, shows and fun activities during display nights.
