The Macao Green Hotel Awards - organized by the Macao SAR Government Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) - seek to promote waste reduction and energy conservation, reducing kitchen waste, noise and pollution control, and controlling pollution from transportation and light in the hotel industry.

The application period for the 11^th Macau Green Hotel Awards takes place from 1^st July to 16^th August, with the highest Platinum Award to be introduced this year. The objective of the Awards is to promote the awareness of environmental protection in the hotel industry, and call upon more hotels to apply for the Awards.

DSPA held the 10^th Macao Green Hotel Awards presentation ceremony on 22^nd June. This year, the Awards recognize 27 hotels, the highest number of winning hotels since 2007. Some 11 winning hotels were first-time participants, seven hotels won the highest accolade of the Golden Award, while two budget hotels won the newly added Certificate of Basic Measures.
