MGTO Promotional Activities in August

MGTO will participate in the Overseas Educational Tours Seminar in Fukuoka once again to encourage local schools to organize school tours to Macao
MGTO support a number of travel agencies from the Taiwan region to offer Macao travel packages at the Macao Product Sales Booth

Exciting events are unfolding in Macao in this half of the year, with Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) organizing and participating in multiple activities in Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the United States and the Taiwan region to boost visitation to the territory.

Japan

MGTO Japan, together with Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), will conduct a travel marketing seminar in Sendai on 1st August. The event will also include a travel professional lunch for networking and maintaining ties with the travel industry whilst informing travel professionals of marketing plans for 2017.

On the same day, MGTO Japan also plans to participate in the Overseas Educational Tours Seminar organized by the Airport Affairs Section, Economy, Tourism & Culture Bureau, Fukuoka City Hall as a way of further building the network and meeting with teachers in Kyushu, Hiroshima and Yamaguchi in efforts to generate more interest in school trips to Macao. This will be the third time MGTO Japan has participate in the seminar.

Meanwhile, the Macao Travel Trade Women's Club meeting is designed to reach out to women aged 30 to 45, deemed market trendsetters and lifestyle leaders. MGTO Japan regularly organizes professional business meetings with key female agents from the mentioned age group in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Sapporo and Fukuoka to create a Macao trade support team.

Malaysia

MGTO Malaysia will hold the roadshow in three other cities in Malaysia this August; namely, in Ipoh (3rd to 6th August), Kuching (11th to 13th August), and Kota Kinabalu (18th to 20th August). This sales driven campaign will offer packages, games and social media contests to promote Macao's events and festivals.

In tandem with this mega event, an 'Experience Macao' Destination Presentation Luncheon will be held in the three cities to introduce Macao's new developments, activities, hotels and multi-destination products to the Malaysian travel trade.

MGTO Malaysia will also organize a familiarization trip for Malaysia media to experience the Wushu Masters Challenge activities from 13th to 16th August. During the trip, media partners will take the opportunity to attend the Lion & Dragon Dance Parade, and explore Macao's new attractions on the Peninsula and in Taipa.

Hong Kong

MGTO Hong Kong has organized a media fam tour for 10th and 11th August for Hong Kong media to visit and experience Macao's latest mega events, tourist attractions and facilities. The media will interview participants in the Wushu Masters Challenge 2017 and sample the local food in Macao. The tour is designed to enhance their understanding of Macao, encouraging media coverage and increased exposure of Macao in the Hong Kong Market.

MGTO Hong Kong will also hold a Dinner & Presentation for Hotel Concierges & Front Office Managers on 18th August at the Hotel Icon. The objective of the event is to reaffirm MGTO's relationship with hotel frontline practitioners, giving them updated information on Macao's new attractions and latest developments whilst mobilizing their support in promoting Macao to their hotel guests as another ideal tourist destination beyond local tourist trips.

To promote Macao as an Overseas Wedding Destination, MGTO Hong Kong will host a product update luncheon for wedding planners and media in Hong Kong in August in order to provide them with the latest updates on Macao's wedding banquet facilities, accommodation and pre-wedding shooting spots, in addition to building up strategic relationships with these key stakeholders for future co-operation.

United States

MGTO USA will attend Virtuoso Travel Week - the world's largest luxury travel event - from 13th to 18th August. It is the annual meeting where Virtuoso agency owners, managers, consultants and travel specialists meet face-to-face with preferred suppliers and tourism boards within the Virtuoso network to establish and develop relationships, and to learn about the preferred suppliers' new products and offers.

MGTO USA will take advantage of the opportunity to participate in this large-scale event to connect with elite and top performing travel advisors and educate them about Macao and its new product offerings.

MGTO USA will host a tour operator fam tour for seven from 28th August to 1st September. These tour operators are decision makers who are particularly responsible for Asian destination business development and expert in developing Asian itineraries.

Taiwan region

MGTO will support a number of travel agencies to offer Macao travel packages at the Macao Product Sales Booth in Chiayi City International Travel Fair, Taiwan International Tourism Exposition and Kaohsiung International Travel Fair.
