AACM Increases Flights during Summer Holidays

Of the increased Summer flights, most serve the Taiwan region

With the Summer holidays high season for tourism, Macao SAR Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) has approved 142 extra flights - including charter - for the vacation from 4th July to 31st August, which include 57 extra flights for Taipei, 26 extra flights for Kaohsiung, 30 extra flights for Bangkok, 17 extra flights for Jeju, 8 extra flights for Ningbo and 4 extra flights for Okinawa.

Moreover, Capital Airlines has launched a route between Macao and Beijing, and Beijing and Lisbon, respectively. Flights between Macao and Beijing, inaugurated on 25th July, depart every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. While the service between Beijing and Lisbon operates every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, with a flight duration of 13 hours, allowing passengers to travel from Macao to Lisbon via a stopover in Beijing.

In addition, Air Macau together with Air China is promoting an interlining service whereby passengers departing Macao via Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai can fly on to Europe and North America. Three flights depart for Beijing and Shanghai on a daily basis, while ten flights depart for Chengdu weekly.

With the Taiwan region a favourite destination for tourists, Tigerair Taiwan welcomed their three millionth passenger on the Macao-Taiwan route in the second half of June. The number of total passengers for this route in the first half of this year increased 20 per cent compared to the same period of last year, indicating popular demand.
