MGTO Promotes ‘Beautiful China’ in Liaoning

Liaoning Tourism Bureau and MGTO ink the Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Co-operation

Jointly organized by the Department of Affairs on Tourism of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan of the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), Liaoning Tourism Bureau, Tourism Commission of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR and Macao Government Tourism Office of Macao SAR (MGTO), the 'Beautiful China - Liaoning Tour' promotional event and Meeting for Tourism Exchange and Co-operation between Liaoning, Hong Kong and Macao was held from 20th to 24th September. The event featured a three destinations' joint presentation, announcement ceremony of the incentive travel policy for Hong Kong and Macao visitors to Liaoning, signing ceremonies, travel mart, familiarization visits, summary discussions, and so forth.

On 21st September, Liaoning, Hong Kong and Macao held a joint destination presentation followed by an array of ceremonies in Shenyang, during which Wang Xiaojiang, Deputy Director of Liaoning Tourism Bureau, and Kathy Iong, Head of Communication and External Relations Department of MGTO, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Co-operation to enhance mutual co-operation and communication fostering the tourism development of both destinations.

Li Yaying, Director General of the Department of Affairs on Tourism of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan of CNTA, Shi Jianxin, Deputy Secretary General of the People's Government of Liaoning Province, Cathy Chu, the Commissioner for Tourism of the Tourism Commission, the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR, MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, and Li Jianping, Director of Asia Tourism Exchange Centre, witnessed the ceremony with other guests.

On the day, MGTO elaborated upon Macao's tourism development and presented the latest tourism facilities and products as well as Macao's positioning as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure. Liaoning Tourism Bureau and Hong Kong Tourism Board presented the tourism situation and resources of their respective destinations as well.

MGTO Director Senna Fernandes remarked that MGTO capitalizes on the international airports of neighbouring cities, the high-speed rail network across various provinces and cities on the Mainland, as well as the cruise tourism network, to further deepen regional tourism co-operation and jointly expand visitor source markets, adding that the three destinations each possess abundant and unique tourism resources.

By sharing their strengths and resources, in addition to diverse opportunities created by regional tourism co-operation, there will be deeper and broader potential for tourism co-operation between Liaoning and Macao as well as between Liaoning, Hong Kong and Macao. And by participating in the event, MGTO seeks to deepen tourism co-operation between Liaoning and Macao whilst creating opportunities for members of the travel industry from both destinations to connect and share their latest industry news and tourism products for stronger collaboration.

The MGTO and Macao travel trade delegation paid familiarization visits to a range of major tourism resources and facilities in various places including the national historical and cultural cities of Shenyang, Benxi, Dandong and Dalian.
