More Funding and Support for Community Tourism, Old Shops

Refurbished old shops can assist the development of community tourism

The Macao SAR Government Cultural Industries Fund (FIC) and Economic Services (DSE) have announced new policies in support of the Community Tourism and Community Economy. FIC will extend financial support for community creative and cultural projects in order to encourage companies to optimise their opportunities with cultural and creative programmes, increase the competitiveness of traditional local stores, and promote the creative culture of the gastronomy industry within the local community.

Meanwhile, DSE has signed a co-operation agreement with Macau Chain Stores and Franchise Association to organize the 'Support Group for Distinctive Old Stores'.

FIC announced in October that in the first ten months of this year it had approved MOP124 million-worth of financial support. While developing community tourism and the community economy, FIC will continue to develop the creative and cultural industry, especially in the fields of fashion design, cultural exhibitions, publications and so forth. In order to match the construction of both the Greater Bay Area and 'Belt and Road' initiative, FIC will organise enterprises' co-operation plans for creative and cultural enterprises under optimal conditions.

In order to support old local shops with distinguishing features to reshape their brand image and enhance sustainable development, DSE is supporting Macau Chain Stores and Franchise Association by organising the 'Support Group for Distinctive Old Stores', a programme it initiated in November. In the first phrase of the operation, the group will set up standards for evaluation of old local shops starting in the first quarter of next year in order to reshape their brand image.

New CCM Map published

In its October edition of the Macao Cultural and Creative Map (CCM Map) the Macao SAR Government Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) introduced 56 local cultural and creative entities as well as information about Macao's World Heritage sites, museums and performance venues, among others.

The new CCM Map also included six 'Tour Routes for the Experience of Culture and Creativity', with the Ruins of St. Paul's and Senado Square as starting points. The traditional Chinese and English versions were released first, followed by simplified Chinese and Portuguese versions. The CCM Map was distributed in 180 locations in Hong Kong and Macao.

The CCM Map - drawn by local illustrator Chan Wai Lam - takes Macao's seven parishes as its frame theme in order to elaborate upon the features of each cultural and creative space, World Heritage sites and performance venues as well as Macao's festivals and customs. The design of the CCM Map fully manifests the creativity of Macao.
