The world famous gourmet award 'Asia's 50 Best Restaurants' will be unveiled in Macao on 27th March. Top Asian chefs, leading figures from the F&B industry, and representatives of the international media will gather in the city to witness the announcement of the 2018 results. Organized with the support of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Asia's 50 Best Restaurants Awards Ceremony is one of the highlight events of '2018 Macao Year of Gastronomy', following Macao's designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2018 awards presentation ceremony - to be held at Wynn Palace in a gala event on 27th March - will be held in tandem with 50 Best Talks - to be held in Wynn Macau on 26th March - which will explore new trends in the industry and share chefs' stories. Participating chefs and restaurateurs from across Asia will also have the opportunity to network on various occasions and experience the host destination of Macao.

Together with the 50 Best Restaurants 2018 list, several awards will be unveiled in Macao to honour the best of the best chefs in several categories. Prior to the ceremony, some of the individual winners will also be disclosed. Asia's Best Female Chef was announced on 30th January, with this year's award going to Thai chef Bee Satongun of 'Paste' restaurant in Bangkok for bringing back the original flavours of her country's cuisine through meticulous historical research and the imaginative use of fresh ingredients.

Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list - the regional version of the world list, published by William Reed Business Media since 2002 - is selected each year by the 300-member qualifications committee, whose members include gastronomic critics, chefs, restaurant owners and gourmands. Members base their decisions upon their dining experiences of the past 18 months to list their favourite restaurants. Each year, the list demonstrates the foresight of experts in the field and important trends in F&B.

In November, organizers announced in Macao that the city will serve as host destination for the awards presentation ceremony and other related activities in 2018 and 2019. Prior to Macao, the awards presentation ceremony was held in Singapore and Bangkok for three and two years, respectively.

Since the launch of the Asian regional version of 50 Best in 2013, Macao has had one restaurant in the final list each year (Robuchon au Dôme), while last year two more restaurants were awarded (Jade Dragon and The Tasting Room).
