Organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the 'Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Dog' was held on 18th and 24th February to bestow the blessings of Chinese New Year, with spectacular highlights including a float parade, large-scale performances, fireworks display, float exhibition and a mobile phone game.

To celebrate the Year of the Dog, the Parade recounted the story of a kennel of dogs, traditionally known as Wong Choi - literally meaning 'fortune' in Chinese - gathering blessings and all kinds of delicious cuisines over the past twelve years, to lay before local residents and visitors like a splendid banquet, conveying best wishes for a fruitful, energetic and flourishing year ahead.

'2018 Macao Year of Gastronomy' theme song debuts

The first float parade - launched at 8:00pm on 18th February from Sai Van Lake Square, and featuring 15 dazzling floats - glided along Avenida Dr. Sun Yat-Sen on Macao Peninsula until reaching the Macao Science Center, accompanied by over 1000 performers comprising 25 local performance groups and nine performance groups from eight countries and regions.

Complementing the theme of '2018 Macao Year of Gastronomy', several floats were illuminated with elements of culinary delight, while the theme song of the Macao Year of Gastronomy - 'You Can Find It Here', composed by local talent Sou Io Kuong, with lyrics by Eagle Chan - was debuted by singer Germano Guilherme alongside the colourful MGTO float, all of which was followed by a dazzling fireworks display which started at 9:45pm before culminating in a dramatic end to the evening.

Floats roll into Northern District on 24th February

The second float parade - launched at 8:00pm on 24th February from Rua Norte do Patane - featured 15 floats wending their way along Avenida do Conselheiro Borja, Estrada do Arco, Estrada da Areia Preta, Avenida de Venceslau de Morais, Rua Quatro do Bairro da Areia Preta, Avenida da Longevidade, and Rua do Mercado de Iao Hon until reaching Iao Hon Market Garden, where Hong Kong artists and local singers performed their finale show, sharing the joy and happiness of Chinese New Year with thousands of residents and visitors who had assembled in the garden.

These splendid floats were showcased on the seafront beside Macao Science Center from 18th February (10:00pm) to 24th February (5:00pm), following which they have been put on display in Tap Seac Square from 24th February (10:00pm) until 4th March (6:00pm). All are invited to enjoy the sight of these illuminated floats while the display lasts.
