This year, QTSAS has allocated a quota of 30 participating businesses for the travel agency sector
QTSAS Calls for New Submissions from Catering and Travel Agency Sectors
This month, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is inviting new submissions from the catering and travel agency sectors for recognition by the Quality Tourism Services Accreditation Scheme ('QTSAS') having held two QTSAS Promotion Seminars at the end of March to encourage businesses from both sectors to join the Scheme.
Any licensed travel agency head office or branch and catering operation which has conducted its business in Macao for one year or more is eligible for participation in QTSAS in 2018, with a quota of participating businesses set at 80 for the catering sector and 30 for the travel agency sector.
Application forms can be obtained from MGTO or downloaded from the Macao Tourism Industry Net: http://industry.macaotourism.gov.mo. Interested merchants who fulfil the necessary criteria for application may submit applications and related documents to MGTO during office hours from 3rd to 30th April.
There are two types of awards, namely, the 'Star Merchant Award' and the 'Service Star Award'. To complement travel agencies providing quality inbound and outbound services within and beyond Macao, the 'Service Star Award - Inbound Service' and 'Service Star Award - Outbound Service' have been added. Every participating merchant who successfully passes the assessment will receive the 'Star Merchant Award' accreditation, to be displayed in their outlet for one year; while participating merchants awarded the 'Service Star Award' will be given a trophy and a cash prize of MOP10000 as a token of appreciation.
MGTO launched QTSAS in 2014 with the objective of not only establishing service quality standards for members of the tourism industry but for supporting and encouraging them to upgrade their service quality in order to develop Macao into a world centre of tourism and leisure. The Scheme also seeks to recognize tourism businesses for their outstanding services and excellent service management. With the catering industry achieving excellent results in the first two years of being rolled out the Office extended the Scheme to include travel agencies as well in 2016.
