Macao Sweeps the Board for Forbes Travel Guide Honours

World renowned authority Forbes Travel Guide unveiled its list of worldwide Star Rating winners in February, in which the city of Macao emerged the big winner with 12 hotels, 12 restaurants and eight spas earning Five-Star awards, the highest honour in the Star Rating list.

Moreover, an elite group of 13 properties earned triple Five-Star awards for their hotel, restaurant and spa, including Banyan Tree Macau, Mandarin Oriental Macau and Wynn Palace Cotai.

Other big winners in the Star Rating list include Altira Macau, which received a total of four Five-Star awards for the hotel, spa and two restaurants; Nüwa Macau won five Five-Star awards for the hotel, spa and three restaurants; while Wynn Macau picked up a remarkable six Five-Star awards for the hotel, spa and four restaurants.

The 2018 Star Rating list awarded 1609 prizes, comprising 199 Five-Star hotels, 513 Four-Star hotels and 309 Recommended hotels; 64 Five-Star restaurants, 171 Four-Star restaurants and 83 Recommended restaurants; plus 60 Five-Star and 210 Four-Star spas.

Welcoming its 60th anniversary this year, Forbes Travel Guide has launched in 15 new destinations including the Middle East and Africa for the first time. The Guide expects to reach 60 countries and regions in 2019 as it searches for more outstanding hotels.
