Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes is one of the guest speakers at the 4th UNWTO World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism, to be held in Asia for the first time this year. Taking place from 30th May to 1st June in Bangkok, Thailand, the Forum will gather gastronomy and tourism experts from government and private sectors from around the world.

The 4th edition of the UNWTO World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism - themed 'Harnessing the Power of Technology and New Value Propositions as Drivers for a Positive Global Impact' - will open with remarks by UNWTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili and the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand, Weerasak Kowsurat, among other officials. MGTO Director Senna Fernandes will join a high-level roundtable after the opening together with tourism officials from Thailand, Jamaica and Japan.

The three-day event seeks to provide a valuable platform for leading international experts in both gastronomy and tourism to discuss current trends and challenges in the sector, enabling them to exchange best practices and inspire discussion on the importance of technology for sustainable gastronomy tourism, among other topics.

The Forum also includes workshops and food tours. MGTO will share with participants Macao's experience on developing gastronomy tourism, projects undertaken as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, and developments in the destination as it paves the way to transforming itself into a world centre of tourism and leisure.

Previous editions of the event were twice held in San Sebastián in Spain, and in Lima, Peru.
