Macau GeoGuide - a mobile map App launched by the Macao SAR Government Cartography and Cadastre Bureau - has currently racked up over 300 thousand hits.

New version 2.5 not only provides the latest maps of the geographic information about the newly built artificial island of the Zhuhai-Macao boundary crossing facilities of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge but also includes a full range of services for residents and visitors, offering over 50 kinds of information on healthcare, food, housing and transportation.

Utilising two simple steps, the application generates four travel advice items for shortest walking route, leisure, bus routes and driving, all pertinent to the user's position.

Travel schemes match all needs

The travel schemes all have their own characteristics.

The Walking Scheme, taking different users' travel needs into account, generates the shortest walking route whilst providing thoughtful 'avoid steps' functions avoiding stairs for the elderly and those holding babies.

Dovetailing into Macao's aspirations to become a world centre of tourism and leisure, the Leisure Scheme signals attractions along the walking route to enrich the leisure travel experience.

The Bus Routes Scheme user can conveniently identify nearby bus stops as well as information on bus routes, interchanges, pick-up and drop-off locations, number of bus stops served by bus, bus fare and so forth, integrating several bus routes in its search results.

Meanwhile, the Driving Scheme offers the shortest driving route with textual descriptions of driving direction, providing an easy, safe, rapid driving experience.

Optimal positioning, location sharing functions

The latest Android version of Macau GeoGuide introduces the positioning technology of ground-based augmentation operated by the GPS Reference Station of the Cartography and Cadastre Bureau, supporting the calibration signals of GPS, Glonass as well as the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System.

It optimises the efficiency and accuracy of the positioning and location sharing functions via mobile phone, popularises professional satellite positioning technology for daily life, and provides a quality geographic information service for users.

The new version 2.5 of Macau GeoGuide can be downloaded for free from App Store and Google Play, supporting iOS 9.3 and Android 4.4 or above versions, providing traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese, Portuguese and English interfaces.
