MGTO Promotional Activities in June

This month, numerous cultural and religious events promise to demonstrate the richness and diversity of Macao. In order to attract visitors from around the world to the territory, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is participating in a packed schedule of activities (in chronological order) in Portugal, Malaysia, the United States, Hong Kong, Taiwan region and other areas.  

As the Summer vacations approach, families everywhere are starting to make their travel plans, with Macao definitely on the radar for many given its rich tourism culture and numerous exciting events. With this year marking the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR, a cornucopia of Art Macao activities promises an unforgettable experience for visitors from around the world.

Portugal

Macao artists Chan Hin Io and Leong Ieng Wai join the Collective Exhibition of Plastic Arts from 2nd May to 30th June in the Exhibition Centre of Odivelas, a town near Lisbon. The exhibition was created in the context of the VII Biennal of Lusophone Cultures of Odivelas.

Macao Tourism Promotion & Information Centre (CPITMP) will attend the Lisbon Book Fair from 29th May to 16th June, where book launches, authors’ autograph sessions and other special events are sure to pique visitors’ interest in the territory.

Malaysia

MGTO Malaysia will support travel agency MJT World Vacation in organising a thematic Parents’ Day Event trip to Macao & Zhuhai from 2nd to 6th June, with the emphasis upon signing up families. During the trip, participants will enjoy the new Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Zhuhai City tour plus open top bus night tour and much more. Meanwhile, media partner AiFM will engage three opinion leaders to promote the Parents’ Day event via radio advertising, print and online media plus social media platforms.

From 9th to 12th June, MGTO Malaysia will host the visit of Malaysia Millennial Youtuber Allyna Wong to Macao in the discovery of new activities - and Instagrammable locations! - whilst immersing herself in whatever the locals are up to and sharing her adventures with her followers. Wong will explore Macao from various perspectives including hiking, gastronomy, Portuguese costumes and cruise experience.

In collaboration with ABC Holidays, MGTO Malaysia will film a series of short films featuring new culinary experiences combined with culture tour and the territory’s unique East meets West flavour, highlighting activities celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR. ABC Holidays will engage the services of Malaysian celebrity Orange together with ABC Holidays Director Steve Eng to host what promises to be a spectacular peek into the new travel and gastronomic delights their followers can expect.

United States

MGTO USA will be showcasing Casa de Macau at the Dia de Portugal on 8th June. To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR Casa de Macau will distribute promotional materials whilst hosting a Chinese dance performance and Macanese Gastronomy Workshop in the Macau Cultural Centre in Fremont, California.

Hong Kong

To promote the leisure and business tourism of Macao, MGTO Hong Kong will participate in the 33rd Hong Kong International Travel Expo (ITE) from 13th to 16th June. The design of the exhibition booth - themed ‘Experience Macao Celebrating Style’ - features the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR.

To enhance public awareness of Macao’s latest tourism developments, seminars will be held during trade day (14th June) and consumer days (15th to 16th June). MGTO will also co-operate with three travel agents to provide exclusive discounted travel packages in order to encourage more ITE visitors to purchase exciting products and travel to Macao.

Featuring the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR and Macao’s mega events in the latter half of the year, ‘Experience Macao Celebrating Style’ Roadshow will be held in Lok Fu Place from 29th to 30th June, during which time MGTO will co-operate with five travel agents to provide special travel packages designed to attract Hong Kong visitors to Macao.

Taiwan region

The MGTO PR Consultant for the Taiwan region will organise an ‘Experience Macao Your Own Style’ Roadshow in Taipei - ATT4FUN - from 14th to 16th June. Showcasing food tasting, themed decorations and interactive games for participants to experience the East meets West culture and gastronomy that Macao has to offer via its food, festivities and sightseeing, this event promises something for everyone.

In addition, the Consultant will support Taiwan travel agencies selling Macao travel packages at the Kaohsiung International Travel Fair and Tainan Travel Fair from 14th to 17th June and 28th June to 1st July, respectively.
