The 33rd National Lotus Flowers Exhibition and the 19th Macao Lotus Flower Festival - held from 3rd to 16th June - are themed ‘Splendours of the Tang Dynasty’.

In the main venue located by Taipa Houses the overall design employs the theme flower ‘Haojiang Qing’ (Nelumbo nucifera) among other flowers, and features Tang tri-colour glazed ceramics, shadow puppets from Journey to the West plus a wooden sailing ship and so forth, showcasing the splendours of the culturally important Tang Dynasty. The second venue, in Tap Seac Square, houses 26 distinctive exhibition areas of lotuses sourced from provinces and cities throughout China, highlighting, as well, the various customs and characteristics of those regions.

In addition to the exhibition areas, some 13000 potted lotuses will be displayed throughout Macao in tandem with a series of activities promoting the culture of the lotus. Activities include a ‘Retrospective Exhibition on Past National Lotus Flowers Exhibitions’, floral art exhibition, photography exhibition, lotus culture exhibition, various competitions, workshops and other attractions.
