In launching its newly designed Macao tourism promotion website (www.macaotourism.gov.mo) on 1st August, which employs the Macao tourism mascot MAK MAK, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) elevates its clean and stylish look with five new and enhanced functions and 15 languages to create a more enjoyable browsing experience.

One of the new key features - map integration - serves as a one-stop platform for useful tourist information and tips, including sightseeing, shows and entertainment, shopping, restaurants, hotels, tourist information counters, walking tour routes, events and festivities. Users can conveniently select their favourite tourism events or explore ancillary tourist facilities via the location identification system.

Five new and enhanced functions

The five new functions - responsive web design; visually oriented content; map integration; web accessibility design; and social media integration - offer users a whole new dimension in their search experiences.

Responsive web design: The new responsive promotional website adjusts and adapts well to any device screen size whether desktop, laptop, tablet or smart phone, creating the best possible content flow for users.

Visually-oriented content: Users will be impressed with Macao’s tourist information through multi-media content enhanced by appealing images and videos.

Map integration: Users can easily discover tourist facilities in their vicinity and learn about forecast visitor flows at major tourist attractions in Macao through interactive maps. Localised information can also be obtained via the location identification system of mobile devices.

Web accessibility design: Adhering to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, this innovative website is equipped with an appropriate contrast display and a consistent and logical file structure enabling people with special needs to use screen reading software or other means to read webpage content for a more accessible online environment.

Social media integration: Linked to various social media platforms operated by MGTO representatives, like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and YouTube, and in an array of languages, this cross-social networking and integration website further enriches available content.
