MGTO Promotional Activities in September

Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR even more spectacular events are planned for the territory as we head towards the last quarter of 2019. To share the celebrations with visitors from around the world Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is participating in a packed schedule of activities (in date order) in Malaysia, Taiwan region, Hong Kong and the United States guaranteed to delight.

Malaysia

In the 2019 Malaysia Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair from 6th to 8th September in Kuala Lumpur, MGTO Malaysia will showcase the latest tourism developments in Macao, upcoming events and festivals and the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR. In addition, MGTO Malaysia will support Malaysian travel agents’ marketing of Macao and Greater Bay Area products.

MGTO Malaysia will also invite nine media entities - including TV and radio stations, online media and bloggers - to experience the 30th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest as well as the ‘Eight New Macao Scenic Spots’ recently voted upon and new tourism activities in the city from 6th to 8th September

Taiwan region

MGTO’s PR Consultant for the Taiwan region will support Taiwan travel agency sales of Macao packages at the 2019 Kaohsiung International Travel Fair from 6th to 9th September and the Taichung International Travel Fair from 20th to 23rd September.

The Consultant will also support the ‘2019 Tiger Run 5’ event via cultural performances with elements of Macao as well as distributing materials promoting Macao tourism and the Macao International Marathon. Macao Tourism Mascot MAK MAK will also greet guests and promote the city at the event.

Hong Kong

In order to highlight Macao’s latest tourism initiatives, hotels, festivals and mega events, MGTO Hong Kong is co-operating with International Chinese Tourist Association Ltd. (ICTA) to organise a Product Update Luncheon for its members on 19th September at the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong. The occasion will also serve as a timely platform for MGTO to reach more travel agents in Hong Kong, and deepen their understanding of what Macao has to offer.

MGTO Hong Kong is also planning a Corporate Day on 27th September to promote Macao as an incentive destination. The 120-plus top Hong Kong management invitees will receive the latest updates on Macao tourism developments plus insights into the newest incentive products as well as MGTO’s Travel Stimulation Programme. The event will also serve as a networking platform for corporate and trade partners in Macao and Hong Kong wishing to explore co-operation opportunities.

United States

MGTO USA is organising and facilitating the Greater Bay Area Showcase with Hong Kong Tourism Board and the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province - slated for 20th to 22nd September in Los Angeles, California - with the aim of building awareness of the exciting multi-destination appeal of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. The emphasis will very much be on promoting the region’s cultural and diverse offerings, geographic proximity, convenience of travel, and the spectacular Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

From 23rd to 27th September, MGTO USA will host a food-centric FAM trip for four top-tier media entities from Macao’s gateway cities around the United States, during which MGTO USA will establish relationships with top tier US media in the food industry with the objective of securing feature stories highlighting the gastronomic offerings of Macao. The FAM trip will educate US media to Macao as a unique cultural destination, with its rich food history, and one worth including in future trips and articles.
