As Autumn takes a grip and Macao prepares to host a plethora of mega events in the last quarter of this year, multiple celebrations for the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR go right to the top of the list. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is pulling out all the stops in a packed schedule of promotional activities around the world, including in Malaysia and the United States.

Malaysia

MGTO Malaysia will hold a ‘Wonders of Macao’ roadshow in Starling Shopping Mall from 11th to 13th October featuring facets of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR and the city’s Macau Grand Prix, Macao International Marathon, and Macao Light Festival, in addition to introducing the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Macao Cruise. MGTO Malaysia is co-operating with local travel agents to provide special travel packages designed to attract Malaysian visitors to Macao. 

From October to December, MGTO Malaysia will invite reporters and photographers from the local English newspaper The Sun Daily as well as Malaysia’s No1 travel media influencer - BackPackerz - to travel to Macao. A reporter and photographer from The Sun Daily will visit Macao in October, with three-episode videos and three advertorials promoting Macao as a romantic getaway, and a top destination for weddings and honeymoons. The feature article will appear in The Sun Daily print edition, online, social media and MGTO Malaysia’s social media assets. Meanwhile, BackPackerz will scour Macao for its many holiday destination gems, which it will share on Facebook, its portal and magazine.

United States

MGTO USA will partner Hong Kong Airlines in Los Angeles to host a travel advisor familiarisation tour from 20th to 24th October targeting US travel advisors and decision-makers who sell Macao and Asia itineraries in the US market. During this ‘fam’ tour, Macanese cuisine and restaurants, UNESCO World Heritage sites, best-selling activities, new products and properties will be rolled out in all their glory.
