Korean Boy Band EXO Idol Suho Talent Ambassador for 4th International Film Festival & Awards.Macao

Following the recent announcement of Carina Lau - Best Actress in Chinese cinema - as the first Talent Ambassador of this year’s International Film Festival & Awards.Macao (‘IFFAM’ or the ‘Film Festival’) the IFFAM Organising Committee announced at the end of September the subsequent appointment of Kim Jun-myeon (Suho), leader of the popular Korean boy band EXO, as Talent Ambassador as well, adding to the strong line-up for the 4th edition of IFFAM, to be staged from 5th to 10th December this year.

Suho and his fellow EXO members - widely acclaimed in Korea and around the world - have reached the pinnacle of success with their outstanding accomplishments in the Korean and Asian world of modern music. His radiant talent has also extended into musicals, TV dramas and movies in recent years. He starred as the male lead in Korean TV drama Rich Man (2018), and in films One Way Trip (2016) and Middle School Girl A (2018), among his other impressive works. His dazzling portrayals have resulted in him being invited to promote various film festivals as their ambassador.  

"I’m honoured to be an ambassador for the International Film Festival & Awards.Macao," he said. "I will work hard to encourage individuals to relate to and be inspired by great movies."

Artistic Director of IFFAM, Mike Goodridge, commented that "the whole team at IFFAM is just thrilled that Suho has come on board as our Talent Ambassador and will visit Macao for the Festival in December. He is a star in so many media and on so many levels. He is a shining light in music, of course, but also an accomplished actor and all-round entertainer. We can’t wait to welcome him in Macao."

In this edition of IFFAM famous Hong Kong director Peter Chan will serve as Jury President of the Competition, while acclaimed Best Actress of Chinese films, Carina Lau and famous Korean star Suho will be Talent Ambassadors; Wang Xiaoshuai (China), Kim Yong-Hwa (Korea) and Karan Johar (India) will be Festival Ambassadors.

In addition, the Film Festival will feature a new ‘Shorts’ competition this year, whilst five new accolades - Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Actress - will be conferred upon prominent filmmakers of Chinese films in ‘New Chinese Cinema’.

Organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Macau Films & Television Productions and Culture Association (MFTPA), the Film Festival is committed to becoming a major gathering for international filmmakers to enhance cultural exchange, while showcasing Asian film talent and film works on the global stage.

Many eminent film stars have been invited to join IFFAM as Talent Ambassadors in past editions, including (in chronological order) Jang Keun-Suk, Rhydian Vaughan, Jeremy Renner, Donnie Yen, Miriam Yeung, Doh Kyung-Soo (D.O.), Nicolas Cage, Aaron Kwok and Lim Yoon A.
