Macao SAR Bestows 44 Individuals and Entities for Outstanding Contribution, Including in Tourism

This year’s Macao SAR Decorations, Medals and Certificates of Merit Ceremony was held on 22th November, presenting awards to 44 individuals and entities, with Shun Tak Holdings Managing Director, Pansy Ho, bestowed with the Medal of Merit - Tourism.

Pansy Ho is the Executive Chairman and Managing Director of Shun Tak Holdings, Co-Chairperson and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, and also a Standing Committee member of Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). For over two decades, Ho has been involved in large tourism projects, she is the founder of Global Tourism Economy Forum and was appointed as a Tourism Ambassador by the World Tourism Organization in 2018.

The Decorations of Honour, which include the Grand Lotus, the Golden Lotus, and the Silver Lotus, are presented to individuals or entities deemed to have made outstanding contributions to the image, reputation and development of the Macao SAR. While the Medals of Merit embrace seven areas, namely professions, industry and commerce, tourism, education, culture, philanthropy and sport. Each of the awards in these categories is for individuals or entities making major or excellent contributions to their respective fields.

Member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC, Liu Chak Wan and Ma Iao Lai, were awarded the Decoration of Honour - Golden Lotus. Member of the Executive Council, Leonel Alves and Cheang Chi Keong, Macao member of the National People’s Congress (NPC), Ho Sut Heng, Macao member of the National Committee of the CPPCC, Eddie Wong, Member of the Executive Council, Chan Chak Mo and Nam Kwong (Group) Company Limited were awarded the Decoration of Honour - Silver Lotus.

Cheang Seng Ip, Poon Lock Kee Rocky, Manuela Teresa Sousa Aguiar and Kong Seng Paging Limited - received the Medal of Merit - Professions; Sam Chin Peng, Loi Keong Kuong, Chan Wai Chi, Luso International Banking Limited, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Macau) Limited received the Medal of Merit - Industry and Commerce; Manuel Augusto Martins Peres Machado, Lam Sok Wa and Escola dos Moradores de Macau received the Medal of Merit - Education.

Carlos Manuel Bernardo Ascenso André received the Medal of Merit - Culture; Vong Yim Mui, União Geral das Associações dos Moradores de Macau, Associação de Beneficiência ‘Leng Fong’ de Macau and Anima - Society for the Animal Protection in Macau received the Medal of Merit - Philanthropy; while Leong Chong Leng received the Medal of Merit - Sports.

Furthermore, other individuals and organisations were awarded Medals and Certificates of Merits, in recognition of outstanding performance in duty execution by public entities, organisations or personnel, active and selfless contribution to community and social welfare by individuals or entities, as well as contribution to the development, reputation or improvement of the Macao SAR by Macao residents or individuals.
