Guided tours resume at museums and heritage sites managed by Cultural Affairs Bureau

Small groups have been welcome to tour some of Macao’s best-loved museums since the beginning of August

A number of museums and heritage sites managed by the Macao SAR Government Cultural Affairs Bureau have restarted their public guided tours and group guided tours.

Since the beginning of August, guided tours have been offered at a number of museums, including the Macao Museum, Macao Museum of Art, the Taipa Houses, the Museum of Taipa and Coloane History, and the Xian Xinghai Memorial Museum. Tours were also resumed at several heritage sites, including the Ruins of St. Paul’s; the Guia Fortress, Chapel and Lighthouse; and Lou Kau Mansion. The Handover Gifts Museum of Macao is hosting only guided tours for pre-arranged groups.

Each museum has restricted the number of participants for guided group tours and for public guided tours to meet ongoing measures to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic. Participant numbers for public guided tours are capped at 10 people, while group guided tours are currently limited to either 15 or 20 participants.

To protect public health, the Cultural Affairs Bureau is taking preventative measures against the spread of COVID-19, such as cleaning and sanitising the facilities at each museum. Tour participants must wear protective face masks, have their temperature taken, present a valid QR code issued by the Macao Health Code system, and follow crowd control instructions.

For more information on bookings and schedules for guided tours, interested parties should visit the relevant page at the website of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, https://www.icm.gov.mo/en/news/detail/18695.
