Discounts, prizes at heart of Macau Shopping Festival’s effort to drive economic stimulus

This year's Macau Shopping Festival runs until the end of December

This year’s Macau Shopping Festival is underway, drawing together 24 organising entities and more than 40 sponsors and supporting organisations in an initiative to spur the city’s economic recovery, as visitor numbers from Mainland China start to gradually increase.

“Safe to Go, Happy to Shop” is the theme for the 10th edition of the festival that takes place from 1 to 31 December. Across the city there are discounts for consumers, and prizes for shoppers to be won in a lucky draw.

There are 14 lucky draw booths at different locations in the city, where shoppers can register for the lucky draw after showing a purchase receipt for goods worth more than MOP300. Shoppers that have purchased during December goods worth in aggregate more than MOP15,000 are eligible to enter a draw for premium prizes.

The shopping festival has also partnered with ICBC, Macau Pass, BOC, UnionPay, Alipay, and WeChat Pay to deliver promotions, cash vouchers and online red packets, for locals and tourists using electronic payment methods for shopping.

Organisers of the festival include the Macau Association of Retailers and Tourism Services, Macao International Brand Enterprise Commercial Association, and Macau Retail and Management Association.

Shoppers can find more information online at www.macaushoppingfestival.org, on Facebook and Weibo.
