MGM partners with MGTO and Oral History Association to launch cultural tourism eLearning programme

An electronic learning programme to build a better understanding of local historic and cultural knowledge has just been launched. “Community Outreach eLearning Program – Introductory Series of Macao History and Culture” is designed to enhance the promotion and sharing of Macao stories among residents and tourism industry professionals, so that they can later share them with tourists and help elevate overall visitor experience.

The content is a collaboration involving integrated resort operator MGM China Holdings Ltd, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Oral History Association of Macao. Anyone can take part in the programme by logging onto the Macao Tourism Industry Net at http://industry.macaotourism.gov.mo. Access the multimedia content by clicking on the Online Course button.

Local renowned scholar Prof. Lam Fat Iam has been invited to join the e-learning initiative, sharing the beauty of Macao’s history and culture with images, videos and engaging animation.

The first series of topics includes The Lotus in Macao Culture, The Formation of The Historic Centre of Macao, and The Composition of The Historic Centre of Macao, which covers the lesser-known Macao stories such as the original landscape of Macao, the various firsts attached to the World Heritage-listed Historic Centre, and the spirituality behind the lotus.

Content will be updated regularly to help cultivate a better appreciation of Macao’s unique history.
