Seminars outlining the strengths of Macao’s tourism and meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) industries, as well as “tourism + MICE” initiatives, have been presented since March in various cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM).
Following seminars in Guangzhou, Dongguan and Zhongshan held in March, the two entities held the fourth and fifth Macao tourism and MICE presentation seminars in Zhaoqing and Huizhou on 9 April and 16 April, respectively, with more slated for the coming months. Members of Macao’s travel and MICE trade also took part in the events. The seminars featured business matching and networking sessions to facilitate exchange among industry delegates from Macao and the two cities.
At the seminars, MGTO introduced Macao’s latest tourism developments and endeavours to revive its tourism market, aside from promoting the city’s diverse tourism resources and products.
IPIM presented Macao’s advantages in the MICE industry and encouraged event organisers to hold related activities in Macao.
The seminars featured onsite business matching and networking, facilitating exchange and cooperation between tourism and MICE industry operators from Macao and the two cities of the Greater Bay Area. The twin seminars engaged more than 120 travel and MICE industry delegates and media.
As the pandemic situation remains stable in the Mainland, MGTO and IPIM will continue to join hands and roll out promotional activities for the travel and MICE trades in cities of the Greater Bay Area.
The efforts of MGTO and IPIM will encourage the travel trade to launch a greater diversity of Macao products; to expand publicity around Macao as a healthy, safe and quality destination; and strive for more visitations from the Mainland to Macao, which in turn expands visitor sources and stimulates the recovery of Macao’s tourism and MICE industries.
