A three-day shopping carnival will take place at The Venetian Macao resort from 23 July, with more than 560 booths from local and international retail brands. The Sands Shopping Carnival provides a free business platform for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and retailers, in another show of support for the Macao SAR Government’s efforts to give the economy a boost.
With food, entertainment, giveaways and discounts, the carnival hopes to stimulate domestic consumption and support the Macao SAR Government’s “Consume for the Economy” initiative.
For would-be shoppers, the carnival, which will be held at Cotai Expo, promises to be a fun-filled, family event with activities, including an international-cuisine food court area, shows, lucky draws, and entertainment for children.
Staged by integrated resort operator Sands China Ltd, and co-organised by the Macao Chamber of Commerce, the event is supported by the Macao SAR Government Economic and Technological Development Bureau, the Macao Government Tourism Office and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute.
Wilfred Wong, President of Sands China Ltd, said in a statement that the company was dedicated to “nurturing the development” of local SMEs, in a bid to “support the economic revival” of Macao. He added that the free platform available “provides more business opportunities, and with the combination of local and international brands, creates an effective synergy that benefits all.”
Macao Chamber of Commerce Vice President Chui Yuk Lum said the trade body remained committed to supporting local SMEs. “We look forward to the positive impact the event will once again have on the city during this challenging time of the pandemic.”
