Trio of trade fairs in Macao postponed to December

Three of Macao’s leading trade fairs, originally scheduled for late October, have been postponed to December, as part of the Macao SAR Government’s effort to prevent locally the spread of COVID-19. The new dates will be announced at a later time.

Due to the epidemic prevention and control measures in Macao (read more here), exhibitors and buyers need more time to prepare their respective participation in these exhibitions. After careful consideration, and in order to hold the three exhibitions to a high standard, generate the synergistic effect of boosting peripheral industries, and help participants seize new business opportunities, the organiser has decided to push back the three events to December.

Organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and in partnership with a number of other bodies, the 26th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF), 2021 Portuguese-Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) (PLPEX) and Macao Franchise Expo 2021 (MFE) will still be held concurrently at The Venetian Macao.

The three events aim to drive new business opportunities and help support the development of local small- and medium-sized enterprises.

The events will also offer online business-matching services for businesspeople who are unable to attend the exhibitions in person due to travel restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s MIF has the theme “Cooperation – Key to Business Opportunities”. MIF makes use of Macao’s role as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure and as a Commercial and Trade Cooperation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, to help businesspeople attending the event start, develop and transform businesses.

For a second consecutive year, the Macao SME Pavilion will showcase local enterprises engaged in selling products “Made in Macao” and “Macao brands”, as well as “agents of Portuguese-speaking countries’ products”. The pavilion is set to show souvenirs, food and beverages, electronics, health products, household goods, the products of cultural and creative industries, handicrafts and accessories.

The Portuguese-Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) is the place to be to explore trade cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries.

This year’s event is expected to attract agents presenting products and professional services from Portuguese-speaking countries.

The Macao Franchise Expo has become one of the premier trade events in Macao since its launch in 2009. The event focuses on franchising and brand agency services. This year’s line up includes exhibitions, forums, business-matching sessions and promotional seminars.

To pre-arrange meetings at this year’s MIF, MFE and PLPEX, exhibitors and buyers can register at the Online Business Matching Service Platform. An online matching service will again be provided for businesspeople who are not able to attend the exhibitions in person.
