The Low Carbon Green Hotel Development Alliance (LCGHDA) - jointly founded by Macao’s hotel and tourism industries, industry partners and professional alliances of the Mainland China and Macao - hosted the inauguration ceremony on 4th December, 2021 at MGM COTAI. During the event, the alliance inked the first strategic co-operation framework agreement with the Institute of Energy, Environment and Economy of Tsinghua University.
Formed by over 30 leading enterprises, professional organisations, and academic institutions from the Mainland China and Macao, the LCGHDA is helmed by a team of the Mainland’s green experts as well as environmental leaders and prominent figures in the Greater Bay Area. Co-Chairperson and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited as well as the Founding Chairperson of the LCGHDA Pansy Ho, the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao SAR, the China Green Building Council, and the Institute of Energy, Environment and Economy of Tsinghua University take up the role of supervising units.
The alliance aspires to collaborate and work with the respective edges of hotel, tourism and construction industries, to further deepen regional exchanges and raise the awareness of the importance of low-carbon behaviours. The LCGHDA - which is grounded in science and action-oriented - intends to map out various innovative, feasible measures to reach carbon peak and carbon neutrality in line with the nation’s climate goals.
