Over 1.9 million spectators joined five Macao Week roadshows last year

In order to continuously promote Macao as a healthy and safe destination for travel and trade, as well as to stimulate the local economy, the Macao SAR Government initiated a series of events called “Macao Week” in Hangzhou, Nanjing in Jiangsu, Shanghai, Chengdu in Sichuan and Chongqing last year. The five roadshows were visited by more than 1.9 million spectators in total and the live streams gained over 550 million live views. The count of views on promotional channels reached 5.07 billion. The final mega roadshow in 2021, “Macao Week in Chongqing”, held at Jiefangbei Square in Yuzhong District of Chongqing, attracted alone close to 400,000 spectators to the events. Throughout the roadshow, the live streams garnered over 140 million views and playbacks in total. The event also garnered over 63 million page views for the hashtag #Macao Week in Chongqing# on Weibo.

“Macao Week in Chongqing” was a massive success

During the “Macao Week in Chongqing” roadshow, a number of Macao SAR Government departments joined enterprises and commerce associations to roll out 44 booths including tourism, trade and commerce, culture and creative, sports and entertainment, radiating the colourful dynamic of “tourism +”. There were 120 sessions of wonderful performances and over RMB-100-million special travel offers prepared for local citizens and tourists. The roadshow also invited 19 KOLs who are specialised in travel and gastronomy fields to conduct 13 live streams on popular social media platforms across Mainland China.

In addition, the “Macao Week in Chongqing - Taste of Macao Food Promotion” was jointly organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office, the Westin Chongqing Liberation Square and the Macau Cuisine Association from 3rd to 16th December, 2021, presenting an exquisite buffet comprising 33 signature Macanese and Portuguese dishes as well as nine set meals on an à la Carte menu at the hotel restaurants. Leading chef of the “Taste of Macao Food Promotion”, Lou Chi Seng, partnered with KOLs to introduce the Macanese and Portuguese cuisine and to conduct culinary presentations via two interactive live streams, promoting Macao’s glamour as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

“Macao Week in Chongqing” fostered business

With regards to commerce, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute organised 24 Macao enterprises to exhibit and sell products during the roadshow, and joined hands with the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce in holding the “Chongqing-Macao-Portuguese Speaking Countries MICE, Commerce, Trade and Investment Presentation Session”, in which 70 enterprises’ representatives took part and 68 business-matching sessions were held.
