The international one-stop tourism service platform - Trip.com Group organised its 2021 Global Partner Summit in Macao last month, joined by over 1,700 global collaborative partners and industry delegates. The Trip.com Group 2021 Global Partner Summit Award Ceremony was also held during the Summit and the “Destination of the Year” award was bestowed upon Macao. As a special supporting organisation of the Summit, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) leveraged the occasion to promote the diverse travel experiences that Macao has to offer across the fields, deepening “tourism + MICE” cross-sector integration.
The 2021 Global Partner Summit featured a main forum, four sub-forums and an award ceremony. As a guest speaker at one of the sub-forums, MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes shared the Office’s relevant experience in destination promotion for Macao under the topic of “How should outbound tourism innovate and evolve after the pandemic”. There were also other guests attending the Summit including President of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Lau Wai Meng, MGTO Deputy Director Cheng Wai Tong, Chief Executive Officer of Trip.com Group, Jane Sun, as well as Chief Marketing Officer of Trip.com Group, Bo Sun.
During the Summit, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute organised the “MICE Environment Experience Tour”. Over 120 participating traders visited Macao’s MICE software and hardware facilities and they also experienced the city’s unique confluence of Chinese and Portuguese cultures in the Portuguese tiles painting workshop and during in-depth exchanges with local agents of products from Portuguese-speaking countries. The delegation also visited some of the scenic spots in Taipa and Central District, as well as a number of local shops. The Tour showed the participants Macao’s peripheral tourism and gastronomic offerings and promoted the strengths of “tourism + MICE”.
