Integrated resort operator MGM China Holdings Ltd is delivering a new event programme that uses art and culture to inspire creativity. The series of family-friendly cultural tours, handicrafts workshops and art classes runs until the end of the year, and is now open for bookings.

The “Sino-Portuguese Cultural Tour” highlights some unique aspects of both Chinese and Portuguese culture at casino-hotel MGM Macau until 31 December. The free, 30-minute guided tours feature themes such as art, architecture, music and gastronomy.

Participants can make their own traditional Portuguese arts and crafts in a limited-edition series of crafting workshops at the MGM Macau. The one- to two-hour sessions include macramé, embroidery and tile painting – accompanied by a Macanese-style afternoon tea – with prices from MOP188 to MOP388 per person. Interested parties can find out more at https://www.mgm.mo/en/macau/entertainment/sino-portuguese.

Until August the new ’M Art space in the Emerald Lobby of the MGM Cotai is the venue for “Brewtiful Creativity”. The headline event is “Brewtiful Fun”, a 90-minute workshop exploring traditional techniques in Chinese landscape painting, using coffee as a medium. The workshop is being held on various dates until August 23, and attendance costs MOP268. Details can be found at https://www.mgm.mo/en/cotai/entertainment/brewtiful-creativity.

Finally, there are two activities for children every afternoon until 6 September. “1,2,3 Rock Paper Scissors” is an interactive activity for children aged 5 and up to create traditional Chinese landscape ink painting scrolls. In “You are Monkey King”, storytelling, group games, roleplay and creative improvisation are offered to children aged 3 and above. The 30-minute activity celebrates Chinese literary endeavour as seen in the contemporary artwork “Journey To The Great West” by Hung Yi, on show at MGM Cotai.
