“Macao Ready Go!” platform draws 340,000 users and counting

Shoppers have reacted positively to the “Macao Ready Go!” initiative

The “Macao Ready Go!” platform had attracted more than 340,000 users by 27 August and recorded over 2.9 million visits. The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) put up the website on 5 June. “Macao Ready Go!” is meant to stimulate spending by consumers on tourist and related services in the city.

The website displays offers for shopping, dining out, entertainment, and stays in hotels and resorts. It promotes sales and discounts available around Macao as the tourism and hospitality industries in the city get back to business.

By 27 August, 654 merchants were registered on “Macao Ready Go!” The website had made available 1,361 promotional vouchers, together downloaded 117,082 times, for redemption at a range of businesses.

“Macao Ready Go!” focused at first on offering deals for Macao locals. With the easing of restrictions on travel between Macao and Mainland China, which had been imposed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the website is being expanded to include offers for visitors, as originally intended.

The “Macao Ready Go!” platform is available at https://www.macaoreadygo.gov.mo.

The cooperation effort between MGTO and UnionPay aims to provide support to the tourism and hospitality industries in Macao, as they get back to business after being negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic; and as travel protocols between Macao and the Mainland are further eased.

The partnership makes use of big-data technology, and provides visitors with information on tour routes, tourist attractions and recommended places to dine, among other things.

In addition, UnionPay is offering a wide range of promotions and discount offers at more than 10,000 businesses locally, including malls, shops and restaurants.
