Macao to host trio of trade fairs in October

This year’s Macao International Trade and Investment Fair and Portuguese-Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) will be held simultaneously with Macao Franchise Expo 2020

A trio of leading trade fairs will be held simultaneously in Macao from 22 to 24 October to help create new business opportunities. For the first time, the events will offer online business-matching services, for businesspeople who are unable to attend the exhibitions in person due to travel restrictions related to COVID-19.

The 25th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF), the 2020 Portuguese-Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) (PLPEX) and Macao Franchise Expo 2020 (MFE) are organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), in partnership with a number of other bodies. The three events will be held at The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel.

The 2020 MIF has the theme “Cooperation – Key to Business Opportunities”. MIF makes use of the Macao SAR Government’s world centre of tourism and leisure policy and its commercial and trade cooperation service platform between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries policy to help businesspeople attending the event to start, develop and transform businesses.

PLPEX made its debut in 2015 as an exhibition within MIF and became an independent event in 2017, held concurrently with MIF. This year’s event is expected to attract agents representing products from Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as providers of relevant professional services. This is all in order to promote trade cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries.

Launched in 2009, MFE is one of the premier trade events in Macao, focused on franchising and brand agency services. It includes exhibitions, forums, business-matching sessions and promotional seminars. Each annual edition is usually held in July, but the COVID-19 pandemic led to a postponement for the 2020MFE.

To pre-arrange meetings at this year’s MIF, MFE and PLPEX, exhibitors and buyers can register at the Online Business Matching Service Platform – https://bm.ipim.gov.mo. For the first time, an online matching service will be provided for businesspeople who are not able to attend the exhibitions in person.
