Macao has enhanced its global standing as a top-tier destination for high-end accommodation, dining and spas in the 2021 Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards. The Forbes Travel Guide has awarded a maximum of five stars to 13 Macao properties – the most of any destination in the Asia-Pacific region.
With 13 hotels rated in the top category, Macao is ranked behind first-placed London, with 19 top-rated hotels, and tied with Paris.
The Forbes awards include restaurants and spas. Macao is home to 21 five-starred restaurants and 14 five-starred spas, while another two spas have a four-star rating. Once again, Macao has more five-star spas than any other single destination in the world.
The Star Awards are released in February each year. They are considered among the leading recognitions in the travel industry because of rigour involved in each independent assessment.
This year’s Star Rating list features a total of 283 five-star, 576 four-star and 438 recommended hotels; 73 five-star, 136 four-star and 77 recommended restaurants; and 90 five-star and 200 four-star spas worldwide. The winners were inspected before the pandemic and when regional restrictions allowed the safe welcoming of guests.
