‘The Legend of the Macau Grand Prix’ among the finalists at ‘Oscars’ for motorsport

“The Legend of the Macau Grand Prix”, a film produced by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), is one of six nominations in the “Best Event Film” category at the “International Motor Film Awards 2021”.

Macao’s entry to the awards was directed by Sérgio Basto Perez, a local filmmaker that has been in charge of video and filmmaking at MGTO for several years, who drew together a team of local talents to present the history of the Macau Grand Prix, guided by the voices of drivers and riders from the past and present. The film captures a glimpse of the unique atmosphere, character and emotion of a Macau Grand Prix weekend.

The “International Motor Film Awards” is the world’s leading prize for the automotive film and television industry. With the support of the film and television industry, motoring authorities and leading brands, the “International Motor Film Awards” have become known as the Academy Awards of the motoring world.

Films nominated for the awards are eligible for a number of awards, including Best Cinematography, Best Stunts, Best Sound and Best Editing, as well as the “Grand Prix Award”. The winners of the 2021 awards will be announced in London on 15 September.

“The Legend of the Macau Grand Prix” was developed to be shown in the new, state-of-the-art Macao Grand Prix Museum Screening Room, using the latest 4K projection and 7.1 surround sound technologies.

The film is now screening to visitors at the Macao Grand Prix Museum. Details will be made public at the museum website, mgpm.macaotourism.gov.mo.
