“Macao Week in Chongqing” set to dazzle in early December

For the fifth time this year, Macao will stage an event for destination promotion in Mainland China to attract visitors to spend more and enjoy vacationing in Macao, propelling tourism and the economy towards a brighter outlook.

“Macao Week in Chongqing” is the fifth event of its kind held in the Mainland this year, following the previous Macao Weeks in Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai and Chengdu.

Mega roadshow

A major highlight will be the mega roadshow to be unveiled on 3 December. The event will energise Jiefangbei Square at Yuzhong District for five consecutive days, showcasing Macao’s tourism, trade and commerce, culture and creativity, sports and entertainment, among others.

Included are booths and zones offering an overview of life in Macao and its gastronomy, its festivals and events; MAK MAK Shop; Macao Good Shop; Macao’s sport events; “A glimpse into Macao Grand Prix Museum”; Macao’s tourism products for sale; trade, commerce and economy of Macao; an informative display from the Macao SAR Government Economic and Technological Development Bureau; as well as a showcase of Macao’s tourism industry presented by integrated tourism enterprises and an airline.

Chongqing residents and visitors at the main stage will be able to enjoy performances from singers, Dragon Dances and Lion Dances, and light dance and pop dance shows. Additional distinctive dance and singing performances arranged by Macao’s six major integrated tourism enterprises will help convey traditional Macao hospitality.

Offers across all channels

“Macao Week in Chongqing” will offer more than RMB100 million in special travel deals for flights, hotel accommodation and dining, among others, at the roadshow and online.

The roadshow features new travel offerings and check-in points for wedding and travel photography, all backed by an extensive promotional campaign online and offline, and with the help from Mainland-based key opinion leaders (KOLs).

Acclaimed cuisine in the spotlight

“Macao Week in Chongqing” will serve up signature Macanese and Portuguese buffets, which have won great acclaim at previous Macao Weeks.

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the Westin Chongqing Liberation Square and Macau Cuisine Association will hold a gastronomic promotion from 3 to 16 December that brings out the city’s unique gastronomic brand.

The gastronomic promotion will radiate Macao’s glamour as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy and promote the essence of Macao’s gastronomic culture.

Connect with the travel trade

MGTO will hold a presentation and seminar on 2 December that delivers an overview of Macao’s latest tourism situation and that promotes the city’s tourism resources and products. The presentation targets tourism authorities, travel trade delegates and the media in Chongqing.
