Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will join the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Travel Mart 2018, which will be held on the island of Langkawi in Malaysia from 12th to 14th September, to promote Macao tourism at Asia Pacific's premiere worldwide travel trade exhibition, featuring talks, forums, business promotions, networking sessions and so forth, which each year attracts over 1000 international buyers and sellers from over 60 countries and regions.

MGTO will host a booth at PATA Travel Mart, under the theme 'Experience Macao Your Own Style', with Macao travel trade representatives from the hotel, marine transportation, exhibition centre and travel agency sector joining MGTO in promoting Macao's new attractions, major events and festivals, and more. A Macao Food Truck will also be set up at PATA Travel Mart to promote the city's delicacies and attractions, highlighting 2018 Macao Year of Gastronomy in celebration of the destination's designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

One of the highlights of the event will be the 2018 PATA Gold Awards Luncheon and Presentation sponsored by MGTO recognising exceptional achievements in the tourism industry. This year marks the 23rd consecutive year that MGTO has supported the PATA Gold Awards.

The 2018 PATA Gold Awards will honour 27 separate organisations and individuals, including two from Macao. Melco Resorts & Entertainment's Studio City 'Dinosaur Hunt, Macau' is the winner of the Gold Award for Marketing - Hospitality, while MGM Macau's 'Making Great Moments in the Community' will pick up the Gold Award for Corporate Social Responsibility.

MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes will participate in the PATA Travel Mart, and act as award presenter in the PATA Gold Awards Luncheon and Presentation in Langkawi. She will also participate in the PATA Executive Board and Board Meeting in her role as Secretary/Treasurer of the Association.

Macao has been a PATA member since 1958. For decades, PATA has been a valuable platform for Macao to promote its tourism image and connect local travel trade stakeholders to the world. The city successfully hosted PATA Travel Mart 2017 and 2010 and the then called PATA Annual Conference in 2005.
